Where It All Begins.
Some businesses begin with a business plan. The Vale Collection began with a feeling—a belief that there could be a different way to experience hospitality.
Behind every part of this dream and vision has been my increcibly supportive husband, Brian, who said yes to this dream and placed his faith in our skills, our hearts, and what we are building. His steady support and behind-the-scenes contributions have helped make this vision possible, and Shanika remains an extraordinary part of bringing it to life alongside me.
For more than eleven years, Shanika and I have had the privilege of working side by side while also becoming incredibly close friends who consider ourselves family. Through years of building teams, solving problems, caring for people, growing our own families, and navigating both the beautiful and difficult seasons of life together, we discovered that we share something much bigger than a similar work ethic. We share the same belief that details matter, that your word matters, that people deserve to feel genuinely cared for, and that the very best experiences often come from someone simply paying attention. The Vale Collection grew from that belief. We dreamed of creating places where beautiful surroundings were only the beginning—where hospitality felt warm instead of formal, luxury felt personal instead of pretentious, and guests could arrive knowing someone had already thought about the details. A place to slow down, reconnect, celebrate something meaningful, take care of yourself, gather the people you love, or simply have a few days where someone else takes care of you.
Our goal at The Vale Collection has never been to simply offer beautiful homes. We want to create the feeling of being deeply cared for while you are inside them. That dream became even more personal through our own experiences traveling with family and multiple children. We knew how meaningful it was to have everyone together, and how difficult it could be to find accommodations that offered enough space for an entire family without sacrificing the luxurious amenities and thoughtful service found at a five-star resort. We wanted to create something that allowed guests to have both: the comfort, privacy, and togetherness of a beautiful home, paired with the elevated experience and amenities of a luxury resort. And now, somehow, the part we once imagined is becoming very real.
The Ridge and The Cove are only the beginning. Behind the scenes, our team is already preparing for the next chapter of The Vale Collection, including breaking ground on additional properties that we will have the extraordinary opportunity to design and build from the ground up. I’ll be stepping into the role of general contractor for these projects, working alongside Brian, Shanika, and our three incredible property managers and incredible team of subcontractors to think through every decision—not only from a construction perspective, but through the eyes of the guests who will eventually walk through those doors. We are dreaming about where you'll put your coffee in the morning. Where families will gather. Where someone will sit when they need a quiet moment. How a room should flow when twelve people are getting ready for dinner. Where the towels belong before you ever realize you need one. And how every space can make life feel just a little slower, easier and more beautiful.
There is so much ahead that we can hardly wait to share. We’ll use this journal to bring you along as we build—sharing the properties as they take shape, the people behind them, lessons we're learning, hospitality ideas we love, and probably a few behind-the-scenes moments when things don't go quite according to plan. The Vale Collection is still at the very beginning of its story, and perhaps that is what makes this moment so exciting. We know where we want to go, we know how we want people to feel when they get there, and we are surrounded by a team of people who care deeply about doing it well. We hope you'll follow along.
